5. Sick Shaun, Weak Shaun
Shaun will admit this if you speak to him - when he falls sick, he falls down hard.
The 3 weeks of wedding ceremonies that we had, were the hardest 3 weeks of 2018 for me.
Shaun had caught an infection a week before our KL wedding. That infection lasted for a week and a half, so Shaun was sick over the span of our KL wedding.
Shaun recovered and he was well for just a day and a half before he caught yet another second, different infection that lasted for another week and a half.
Shaun was sick for a total of 3 weeks, for a total of 3 weddings I even made a timeline of Shaun's sickness.
He lost a total of 10kgs in total, 4kg over 6 months from keeping a healthier life style of 2 meals a day and regular exercise, and then 6kgs in just 2 weeks from the illness that he caught.
Shaun was so sick that he could not swallow solid food. Most of the time, all he could swallow was small portions of soup. On certain days his stomach was even irritated by water. I was a little worried wondering if Shaun would live through this, let alone attend the weddings.
This was hard, because it meant I had to make a lot of decisions and wedding planning alone. Shaun was bedridden most of the time.
What was the blessing that came out of this? I don't know.
But I know it was a trial that came our way, and I learnt a valuable lesson from it.
- God was my companion when Shaun could not be.
- God helped me make decisions when Shaun could not advise me.
- God sent me helpers like Nicole and my bridesmaids when Shaun could not help me.
- God taught me patience and brought me to my knees.
- God also taught me where real strength comes from.
I love Shaun, but in this time alone, God reminded me He really loved me too, and more.
