Jesus Speaks to Children

Our church is starting up a church school project. A few of us are being tutored by Pr Kim Kjaer and his wife, Judy, on how to educate children in the Lord.

In one of their lessons, they mentioned that it was very important to allow children to ask their own questions, because somehow, children can hear Jesus and His angels speaking to them.

They gave the illustration of a mother and her son doing gardening, and the son wandering off and trying to pull out a weed. He was not able to pull it out without his mother's help, but without her saying anything, he told her that it was the root of selfishness and they got rid of it together.

Fast forward about a week later. Our church went to a waterfall one Sunday - families, children, youth, and friends. At the waterfall, some of the children had caught a crab. Youth and children were gathering around it, screaming, trying to trap it in a sand pit, and running away from it. There was one little girl who was just going back and forth pouring water on it, not bothered by the crab at all.

We eventually released the crab, and when we went back, I was standing with the little girl and her mother. I discovered it was her first time seeing a crab. Her mother said to her, "Wow, you were so brave! Weren't you afraid of the crab at all?"

The little girl said, "No momma, I wasn't scared at all!"

The mom asked her, "Oh, why weren't you scared?"

The little girl replied, "Because Jesus told me that He is with me!

I smiled, excited as I knew I could not wait to tell Pr Kim and Judy that night after we went home that I had seen first hand how God teaches little children directly. :)
